It was decades of surfing that gave Robby Naish the inspiration to create some of the best stand up paddle boards the world has ever seen. Since the company’s inception many years ago, Naish Surfing has been one of the best manufacturers of paddle boards, surf boards, and kite surfing boards on the market.
Presenting itself as being more than a board riding company, Naish has indeed come up with some pretty interesting board designs throughout the years, which is why so many people prefer them nowadays.
Naish Paddle Boards Reviews
Naish 2014 Crossover Air Paddleboard
Type: Surfing / Touring / All Around Paddle Board
Size: 11 x 30 x 6
Weight: 23.8 lbs
Weight Limit: 210 lbs
It takes less than 10 minutes to inflate the 2014 Crossover Air Paddleboard to 12 psi, enough to get it in a good condition. This inflatable, yet quite sturdy board is 11 feet long and you can use it for surfing, touring, or as an all around paddle board. The Crossover is quite wide compared to other boards, while its thick body makes it more balanced than you would expect a board of its size to be.
We should also point out that despite being an inflatable board, Naish 2014 Crossover Air Paddleboard is quite inflexible, behaving pretty much like a solid one. It also features an M8 insert to help you if you wish to turn it into a windsurf rig. Like we said, this particular board is quite sturdy, thus even though it is quite long at 11 feet, you shouldn’t worry that it will be any less stable or maneuverable than a smaller one.
As expected, this board comes equipped with a high pressure gauge pump, a canvas carrying pack, a repair kit, and two removable center fins. Construction-wise, the Crossover Air is UV protected by an EF poly skin like most high-quality inflatables on the market, and it features a dual-density deck pad with graphics for better foot placement.
Naish Hokua GS Stand Up Paddling Board
Type: Surfing / Touring
Size: 9’10 x 32 x 5.8
Weight: 18.9 lbs
Weight Limit: 200 lbs
Ideal for riders who want a fast and maneuverable paddle board, the Hokua GS is one of the few boards who can be ridden as a thruster or a quad. Given its 32 inch width, the Hokua is quite easy to ride regardless of how tall the waves get out into the open water. This highly versatile board features an increased tail rocker, a thinner nose, and tail aid turning to make it more maneuverable. Still, being quite light, you might want to take it for a ride in calmer waters before facing the waves.
It has to be said that Naish Hokua GS is not a good board to purchase if you are a beginner due to how light it is and how easy it accelerates. Designed for speed, this board is perfect for riders who aren’t heavier than 220 lbs and who know what they’re doing. Last but not least, Naish Hokua GS features FCS thruster fins and a dual-density deck pad with diamond grooving that provides quite a bit of traction when riding the waves.
Naish Odysseus Stand Up Paddleboard
Type: All Around Paddle Board
Size: 9’8″ x 34 x 4.7
Weight: 34.1 lbs
Weight Limit: 275 lbs
Like many other Naish boards, the Odysseus is also designed to provide maneuverability at high speed, mainly due to its composite construction which adds stiffness while reducing weight. Its radical multi-concave bottom shape is used to channel water nose to its tail, allowing the rider to paddle easily while going faster than they would using other boards of similar size. Thanks to its short yet wide size, the board can provide stability for riders who weigh as much as 275 lbs.
Due to its continuous rocker and its squash tail, the board allows you to catch the energy of even the smallest of waves, making it easier for you to get up on the surf whenever you feel like it. Furthermore, its durable EPS and epoxy construction with wood reinforcement make it quite sturdy, a sturdiness you can expect from most Naish boards actually. It also has to be said that the Odysseus can be used in calm waters for yoga or fishing if you see fit, due to its wide size and robust outline.
Naish ONE Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard, 12-Feet x 6-Inch
Type: All Around Paddle Board
Size: 12 x 34 x 6
Weight: 22 lbs
Weight Limit: 200 lbs
As one of Naish’s most popular boards, the ONE enjoys quite a bit of popularity and rightfully so. Although designed as an all around paddle board, some people use if for touring or racing, taking advantage of its long yet slim construction. Add to that the fact that it features a high quality construction that makes it extremely easy to carry around without the fear of damaging it and you can understand why this particular board is as popular as it is.
Stronger than you would otherwise expect an inflatable board to be, the ONE is UV protected by an EF poly skin. It also features a dual-density deck pad with numeral graphics to allow a better foot placement. As for the packaging, the ONE usually comes equipped with a high pressure gauge pump, canvas carrying pack, a repair kit, and a removable center fin.
Also, if you take the time to study the market, you will find that most other boards in its price range are much heavier than the ONE, not to mention their questionable construction.
It has to be said, however, that if you are a newcomer to the sport and you are looking for an entry level paddle board, then you should probably look someplace else. Not that Naish doesn’t feature light, small, maneuverable boards to begin with, but you would most likely end up paying a lot more than you would want. There are, of course, plenty of cheap Naish paddle boards on the market, but if you want to experience the joy of riding a well-done, high quality paddle board, then you should probably purchase one of the models Naish is famous for.
